Ólafsfjarðará

Ólafsfjarðará is divided into two fishing beats, each with two rods. The mainstay of the catch is Arctic char, but occasinally salmon is caught as well.  Fly fishing is permitted during the whole season and worm fishing to August 20th. The river feeds Lake Ólafsfjardarvatn. Fish free of charge here. Ólafsfjardará is 257 miles (414 km) from the capital and 38 miles  (62 km) from Akureyri.
