Fnjóská salmon

Numerous beautiful and varied fishing spots are in Fnjóská salmon area and it is well suited for fly fishing. The middle and upper parts offer the most impressive fishing spots. The Angling Club Flúdir and landowners stand for sophisticated cultivation practice, which probably will result in better fishing in the future. The salmon pulled from the Fnjóská salmon area average about  8 lbs. The summer of 2010 was very good in Fnjóská and totaled some 1,054 salmon!

  • Season

    18th June – 16th September.

  • Location

    Thingeyjarsýsla, about 25 miles (40 km) north of Akureyri.

  • Fishing areas

    Salmon fishing area extends from the river mouth and up the valley above the forest Vaglaskógur. The resort is divided into four beats and is fished with two rods on each.

  • Fishing permits

    Rendered in two days at a time from noon to noon.

  • Bate

    Fly, worm and lure on beat 1 throughout the summer and in June and July on beats 2, 3 and 4. In August and September is only allowed to fish on the fly on beats 2, 3 and 4.
