Eyjafjarðará river

Eyjafjarðará is more than 44 miles  (70 km) long, running north through the beautiful valley of Eyjafjördur. It joins the ocean close to the town Akureyri. The river is easily accessible by roads 821 and 829. It is renowned for its big Arctic char but you can also expect to find Sea trout and the occasional salmon.  Rods, 8-9´ and for 5-7 wt. lines are suitable. Bright colored nymphs and steamers are effective.

    Arctic char, Sea trout and occasionally Atlantic salmon. One fish for the table, thereafter catch & release policy.

  • Accommodation

    Guesthouses or hotels in the town Akureyri. The Centrum Hostel has seven well-kept rooms. Each room has comfortable beds for 1-7 persons. It has light cooking facilities including for a microwave, dishwasher and all necessary tableware.
