Arnarvatnsá & Helluvaðsá

Arnarvatnsá og Helluvaðsá  (A&H) are small rivers that are partly fed by Laxá in Mývatnssveit and by Arnarvatn a lake to their south. After just one hundred yards of twisty stream it runs through a culvert under the main road.

In the small pool below the culvert there are some large fish, which are escapees from the main river. Much of the first mile or so is canal like and the fish may see you long before you see them.

Arnarvatnsá og Helluvaðsá are fantastic for dry fly fishing and to fish upstream with nymphs. If you are looking for small streams then Arnarvatnsá og Helluvaðsá are excellent choices.
